The Claveria Grassroots Multi-Purpose Cooperative held its 45th Annual General Assembly Meeting last April 2, 2017, Sunday, at the Academy of St. Joseph Gymnasium, Claveria, Cagayan.
The event started at 8:00 AM with an opening program. Honorable Mayor Celia T. Layus imparted her inspirational message emphasizing this year’s theme, “Itandudo ti Claveria Grassroots MPC para iti Panagrang-ay ti Pamilya.” The honorable Senator, Cynthia A. Villar, was invited as the Guest Speaker. However due to the unpleasant weather condition, the Senator couldn’t attend, hence her promising message was delivered by her staff. She cited the importance of cooperatives in economic development and poverty alleviation.
The meeting was called to order at 11:00 AM presided by the former BOD Chairman, Eduardo Q. Guerin. Different matters, including the proposed amendments to the Cooperative By-Laws, were presented for the approval of the General Assembly. The raffle draw took place as the election of officers started. The Election Committee presented the candidates for officership and advised the body that the election would end at 5:00 PM. Four members of the Board of Directors, three members of the Audit Committee and two members of the Election Committee were elected as the election and the meeting adjourned. The annual regular meeting is being conducted every last Sunday of March unless scheduled on a later date with prior notice to the members. The GA is constituted of all members entitled to vote, and is the highest governing body of the Cooperative. However, all members, even not entitled to vote, have the obligation to attend the meeting. This year, 2,377 members attended.
